Animated Version Of Franke James' Visual Essay "What's Harper Afraid Of?"

Enjoy the video and watch Franke James artfully connect the dots.

What is Harper Afraid Of? from Franke James on Vimeo.

After you've watched this remember that there are real "radicals" involving themselves in Canada's politics and they are not any of the environmental charities that the Harper government is spending $8 million dollars of Canadian taxpayers money to harass. Go over to the Globe and Mail and read about how Charles and David Koch (founders and funders of the fear and rage driven Tea Party) are enriching themselves on Canada's resources and spending huge amounts of money to influence government policy.

Harper has no morals or ethics, what-so-ever. He has an all consuming greed, to sell the dirtiest oil on the planet. The only province that exists for Harper is Alberta. The only western province that exists for Harper.

To string a pipeline through BC's wilderness, is insane. There are avalanches, mud slides, earthquakes, recently, frequent swarm earthquakes. There are swift flooded rivers, that carry away homes and highways. Will Enbridge go through 15 feet of snow, to clean up a spill? I believe they will leave the spill, as they did, in the Kalamazoo River pipe burst disaster. Besides which. Harper moved the oil clean-up crew, out of BC.

And the seas around Kitimat, really are one of the worst in the world. We hear of hurricane force wind warnings, every other day. (Bear in mind, Kitimat is a northern port, with frequent bad weather). There are waves, 40 to 50 feet high. There are rogue waves, over 70 feet high. The channel narrow, the tankers massive, that have to do hairpin turns. It takes three miles, to stop one of those behemoth tankers.

Just recently. There were three freighters, caught in one of the ferocious storms off BC's coast. One freighter had the storm rip off their top load of logs. They put out a distress call. They were afraid, the bottom load would shift, and capsize the ship. It took hours to reach the stricken ship. The other two freighters, also lost their cargo to the storm. They had to turn back, and pray they could limp back to BC harbors. Besides which, Harper closed another Search and Rescue Station. Time is of the essence, when a ship or pleasure craft is in trouble. Fires are frequent disasters at sea.

Don't try and tell the BC people, the dangers of the sea. Nor, what will happen to the pipeline. The chemicals in the oil, to make the oil flow freely, are 60% more caustic than stated. So caustic it eats the pipes into a fragile state, then the pipes burst. Europe was angry at Harper, for giving them false statements, on the toxicity of the dirty oil.

You would have to be a brain dead fool, to run those huge tankers into Kitimat Port.

By the way, that's a remarkable story and thanks very much for sharing it -- I'll mention it on my radio program tomorrow
